Stan Collymore wins £1.5m in damages

Former Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore has been awarded nearly £1.5m in damages by a British High Court. Mrs Justice Gloster ruled that Collymore, who had been told by his financial adviser to cash in his insurance policies and set up funds that later ended up as failures, had been given negligent advice.

Collymore, 37, had sued Mr. Mark Francis, an independent financial adviser, and two companies, Interlink Premier Network Ltd ( Of which Francis was a representative) and IPTC Limited.

Interlink Premier Network Ltd was ordered to pay Collymore £854,435 and IPTC was asked to cough up£648,409. In addition to these two sums, Collymore was also awarded his entire legal costs- around £600,000.

Both Interlink and IPTC are now in liquidation, and Mr.Francis has been ruled bankrupt, so it remains to be seen whether Collymore does actually end up getting any more.
