Al Ahly beat Enyimba, to meet Coton Sport in Champions League final

Egytian giants Al Ahly became only the third team to reach four successive Champions League finals when they beat Nigeria’s Enyimba 1-0 in Cairo. As the score had ended 0-0 in the first leg in Nigeria, Flavio’s goal was enough for Al Ahly to progress to the final, where they will meet Cameroon’s Coton Sport.

The five time champions had a perfectly legitimate Mohammed Barakat goal disallowed for offside in the fourteenth minute, but took the lead twelve minutes later as Flavio headed home from Gilberto’s corner.

Mohamed Aboutreika and Ahmed Sayed wasted opportunities to put the match beyond Enyimba’s reach, but Flavio’s goal was enough to see Al Ahly through.

Ahly will meet Coton Sport, who thrashed Zimbabwe’s Dynamos 5-0 in their two legged semifinal.

Coton Sport had not been expected to qualify out of a group that consisted of Enyimba, Congo’s  Mazembe, and Sudan’s Al Hilal, but the Cameroon side defied all odds, and will aim to create history in November when they meet Al Ahly. Ahly are bidding for their sixth title, and will be strong favourites going into this game.
