Will Pienaar stay at Goodison Park ?

South African midfielder Steven Pienaar is unsure whether he will don an Everton jersey next season. Pienaar, who has impressed on the left side of midfield, is currently on loan at Goodison Park from Borussia Dortmund. There is an option in his contract that allows him to leave Signal Iduna Park for 2.2 million pounds, but Everton must do so before April 30.

Pienaar joined Dortmund from Ajax, but failed to adapt at the German club and was shipped off to Everton on a year long loan in July 2007. The Johannesburg born player has enjoyed his stint at Goodison Park and has stated his intent in the past to convert his move into a permanent one.

2 million is certainly not a high price tag for a player of Pienaar’s quality. He is contracted to Dortmund till June 2009.

I don’t think the transfer fee is a problem for Everton. The wages may be a factor, but like many others, I have no idea of what Pienaar currently earns.

Arsenal, Newcastle and Valencia are among the clubs reported to be interested in securing his services.

And btw here is a review of the Liverpool Arsenal Champions League game last night.

Should I be posting about Liverpool in an Everton post :p
