Beckham to win 100th cap- Capello

Here is some good news for all fans of David Robert Joseph Beckham. Tonight, Beckham will become the fifth Englishman to win 100 caps for the Three Lions. Coach Fabio Capello has reportedly refused to comment on whether or not Beckham would start, but the LA Galaxy midfielder will definitely play in the game. When he steps onto the pitch, Beckham will become the fifth English player to be capped 100 times after Peter Shilton, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton and Luke Wright.

In other news, Capello has announced that Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand will wear the captain’s armband against France tonight. That does come as a bit of a surprise, as it was widely expected that John Terry would get the nod ahead of Rio.

This is part of Capello’s rotation policy, and the Italian is expected to choose a permanent captain in August.

Steven Gerrard had captained England against Switzerland in February.

The game will kick off at the Stade de France at 8pm GMT.

France are missing Thierry Henry, Louis Saha, Sebastien Frey, Patrick Vieira, Bacary Sagna, Karim Benzema and Mathieu  Valbuen. In all probability, David Trezeguet will partner Nicolas Anelka upfront.
