Manchester City to swoop for Adriano ?

Manchester City are reportedly planning to move for Inter Milan’s Brazilian striker Adriano, if reports in the BBC are to be believed. City’s current strike force includes Giorgios Samaras, Emile Mpenza, Valeri Bojinov, Darius Vassell and Rolando Bianchi. While all these players are decent in their own right, they are not the strikers you would want to launch a serious attempt at Europe. Bojinov has been bogged by injuries, and the rest have been decent at best.

Adriano is reportedly unsettled at the San Siro. The success of fellow Brazilian Elano may also influence him to move to England. As for cash, City have no problems, having been taken over by Thaksin Sinawatra at the beginning of this season.

City make a trip to White Hart Lane this weekend, and will be without Elano. Dietmar Hamann is suspended which would mean that Eriksson will, in all probability play Michael Johnson and Gelson Fernandes in midfield.
