Sri Lanka enter World Cup finals

Congratulations to the Sri Lankans for making it to the final of CWC 2007. They outclassed New Zealand in all departments of the game, although you might argue that the last wicket partnership between Patel and Franklin was allowed to last a little longer than it should actually have.

Mahela Jayawardene played a fantastic innings He started off slowly, but grew in confidence as he spent more time in the middle, and his century was one of the main reasons for Lanka winning. Credit must also be given to Upul Tharanga who allowed Jayawardene to settle down by taking care of the run rate at his end.

For the Kiwis, they bowled pathetically towards the end. While batting, they lost too many wickets too quickly- after Styris fell to Dilshan. Again bringing on Dilshan was another masterstroke on the part of the Lankan captain.

Patel and Franklin gave a very good account of themselves, and it would be safe to say that if the Kiwis had wickets in hand, they would have won the game
