ICC Champions Trophy- Sri Lanka vs West Indies- a review

This wasn’t a contest at all. Agreed that both the teams had qualified, but I had expected a more keenly contested match. And in the end, this one turned out to be as one sided as some of the other matches involving Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.

Farvez Maharoof put on an inspired spell of bowling as he claimed 6 wickets for 14 runs to send the West Indies packing for 80 runs. With the exception of Hinds, Lara and Mr.Extras nobody got into double digits 😀

Sri Lanka lost inform opener Tharanga for a first ball duck but Jayasuriya and Jayawardene ensured that there were no further hiccups as the target was knocked off in 13 overs and 2 balls.

Sri Lanka, joint winners of the trophy once, are peaking at the right time. Their group, which also consists of South Africa, Pakistan and New Zealand will be a very interesting group to watch as all the four teams can beat the best on their day.
