David Beckham to quit playing in 2008 says RM prez Roman Calderon

David Beckham will hang up his boots in 2008, according to Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon. The Madrid right winger, whose contract runs out next season is expected by Calderon to put pen to paper another deal till he decides to quit.

Beckham has largely been restricted to the substitutes bench at the Bernabeu this season under Fabio Capello, although he was one of the better performing Galacticos during the last few years.

Beckham, who wasn’t included in the English squad after Steve Mclaren was appointed as coach, was captain of his side till their loss in the 2006 quarterfinal against Portugal in Germany, where he limped off to be replaced by Aaron Lennon early in the second half.
