The 2008 Formula One season is set to get underway in Melbourne on March 16. Valencia and Singapore will the new circuits this year. Here is the list of drivers for each team. Plenty of existing drivers have switched teams, new drivers have also been inducted. If you didn’t know this information, read it before switching on your television sets.
Ferrari- Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa
McLaren - Lewis Hamilton, Heikki Kovalainen
Renault- Fernando Alonso, Nelson Piquet Jr.
Sauber- Nick Heidfeld, Robert Kubica

The battle for the F-1 drivers Championship will be decided in the last race of the season after British rookie Lewis Hamilton was forced to retire from the race due to tyre problems. Hamilton, who started on pole, missed his chance to clinch the title, and now has his lead cut to 4 points. Prior to the race, Hamilton was on 107, with Alonso on 103, and Raikkonen on 90. With Hamilton not garnering any points, and Raikkonen and Alonso finishing 1-2, Alonso is now four points behind his McLaren teammate, while Ferrari’s Raikkonen is seven points behind.

The legend has announced his retirement. After winning Ferrari’s home GP at Monza, Michael Schumacher has announced that he will retire from Formula 1 at the end of this season

Schumacher has dominated F-1 like no one has in recent times and the records he possesses are staggering. Take a look at some of them

The much loved Belgian GP at Spa Francorchamps,will return next year in place of the European GP.Spa, which was dropped out of this year’s race calendar, thanks to repair work being undertaken by the authorities, has been witness to some of F-1’s most important moments–Michael Schumacher’s first race win ,as well as the German’s record 52nd race win
There was no Belgian GP in 2003, due to the stringent anti tobacco laws in force.
Imola, which was where the great Ayrton Senna died has also been struck off the list. There is a change in venue for the Japanese GP– from Suzuka to Fuji.

Britain’s Jenson Button,widely regarded as one of the best drivers of today’s generation without a GP win,finally secured his maiden GP in a an actionpacked GP at the Hungaroring on Sunday.
The race also saw F-1 title contenders Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso who started from 11th and 15th respectively due to time penalties,crash out .
Mclaren’s Pedro De La Rosa took his maiden podium position behind Button,while Nick Heidfeld finished third.
F-1 enthusiasts would do well to remember that Fernando Alonso introduced himself to the world with a maiden win at Hungary.Will this win bring about a change of fortunes for the normally not so lucky Button?

Michael Schumacher won his third successive victory when he won the German GP at Hockenheim on Sunday. Felipe Massa made it a 1-2 for Ferrari while Kimi Raikkonen,who started on pole,finished third.
Renault had a poor outing as world champion Fernando Alonso finished 5th and Giancarlo Fisichella finished one place behind the Spaniard. The result saw Alonso’s lead in the drivers championship cut down by another 6 points.
Schumacher now has 89 to the Spaniard’s 100.The season will now head to Hungary where Alonso became the youngest driver to win a GP in 2003.

Jarno Trulli,who joined Toyota from Renault has signed a contract extension which will see him drive for the team till 2009
