Ian Botham knighted
Ian ” Beefy” Botham will now have a Sir before his name. Yes folks, England’s best known all rounder of all time is now Sir Ian Terence Botham after being knighted by the queen. The former Somerset allrounder also briefly held the record for most number of test wickets before other bowlers surpassed him. He was also the fastest to achieve the milestones of 1000 runs and 100 wickets, 2000 runs and 200 wickets, and 3000 runs and 300 wickets in test cricket.
Author Salman Rushdie was also knighted. Manchester United and Welsh left winger Ryan Giggs is now an officer of the Order of the British Empire. So also is retired snooker legend, Terry Griffiths.
